ENDO 2010 Minority Student and Trainee Luncheon

Location:       Hilton San Diego Bayfront

The Minority Student and Trainee Luncheon was presented to invited undergraduate students participating in the Minority Access Program and from universities and colleges in the San Diego area.  The activity was organized and sponsored by the Minority Affairs Committee (MAC).  Minority graduate students who attended ENDO 2010 were also invited to the luncheon in which trainees were presented with an introduction and overview of ENDO by Steven Anderson, Ph.D. and an in-depth endocrine presentation by Jennifer Larsen, M.D..  MAC members advised trainees to acknowledge the topics and programs of interest presented at ENDO and helped them prioritize which events to attend in order to ensure trainees the best ENDO experience.

The 2010 Minority Mentoring and Poster Reception was a success, yet again!  During the reception, minority students, postdocs, fellows and junior faculty were able to network with mentors addressing various topics and the career challenges they face. 

The reception allowed trainees the opportunity to showcase their research while networking and receiving valuable feedback from renowned scientists in the field, Society members and other trainees who shared similar interests.

The poster competition hosted many outstanding poster presentations which made for a difficult decision to name a winner.  During the reception, volunteer judges scored each poster and identified four trainees to receive cash awards for excellence in endocrine-related research.
