Thank You to All ENDO Attendees!
Nearly 8,000 attendees from more than 75 countries attended ENDO 09 in Washington, D.C., June 10-13. The strong relevance of science and clinical practice at the annual meeting brought together unparalleled access to the most sought after experts sharing groundbreaking innovations and progressive clinical treatments, and meeting endocrinology’s emerging challenges.
During ENDO 09, national leaders presented their perspectives on endocrinology and society. Francis S. Collins, M.D., Ph.D., former director of the National Human Genome Institute, articulated the importance of researchers being more involved in translational applications and Margaret Hamburg, M.D., newly appointed commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), discussed her desire to see greater cooperation between the scientific community and the FDA. In other talks, two Nobel Laureates, Joseph L. Goldstein, M.D., and Michael S. Brown, M.D., explained their research in how animal cells control cholesterol synthesis and uptake through a feedback mechanism mediated by low-density cholesterol receptors. Thank you for making ENDO 09 such a wonderful success. We have already begun planning a rich variety of cutting-edge scientific events and networking opportunities for ENDO 2010, June 19-22, in San Diego.
