Dear colleagues, Earlier this year we had the first meeting of the Program Organizing Committee in Paris. It was very gratifying to see all POC members assembled together, and I was impressed by the collective range of expertise covering all areas in the thyroid field. If we had stayed a few days longer, we could probably have written a new really up-to-date textbook on thyroidology. I found the meeting very productive, as evident e.g. from the detailed information on the 14th International Thyroid Congress provided in this first announcement: the general outline of the scientific program, and the dates of the most important deadlines. What I liked most at our POC meeting, however, was a brain-storming session on how we could improve even further the quality of the congress, and some very good ideas emerged. We keep you informed! I was equally impressed by the expertise of the Professional Congress Organizer in Paris, MCI. They really know their business, and I would say we all are very fortunate that the local organizers Martin Schlumberger and Jacques Orgiazzi selected MCI. The congress venue, le Palais des Congrès, has all necessary amenities, it is easily accessible and beautifully located a couple of hundred yards from the Arc de Triomphe. If you like French cuisine, the neighbourhood is abundant with typical French restaurants and we already had the pleasure to become acquainted with some of them. The social program will boast some unique events, to be disclosed later. I stayed one day more in Paris with my wife, and we fell again in love with Paris in springtime. But Paris is a city for all seasons - so mark the dates in your calendar and plan to submit your finest research for presentation at the 14th ITC in Paris september 2010.
